Friendship Set to Music Celebrates 200th Show!

Eight years have passed since Friendship Set to Music (FSTM) was created, and Show 200 was broadcast LIVE on LMCC's Channel 12 as the show was taped! Very few producers are given that opportunity! Over seven squares of dancers participated in the fun and excitement!

In a special segment, Dee and Ken Scott thanked Jim Lundberg, station manager; Dick Rueter, caller since day one on the show; Ken and Barb LaBau, who have danced on the show since Show #1 and who now cue for the show; and the dancers who have been steadily involved for the entire eight years: Bob and Velma Wolff, Mel and Shirley Nelson, Tom Marron, George Shepard, Harlan Schmieg, and Brian and Debbie Freed.

Also thanked were the regular segment hosts from three different clubs: Jane Simpson from Single Circles, Barb Calhoun from Westonka Whirlers, and Vince Dahlheimer from Hotfoot Stompers.

Jane Simpson introduced the "top-ten" dancers for 2010-2011 to the viewers and presented all with bars to wear on their badges.

Another special segment was the parade of dancers where everyone in the studio had the opportunity to greet viewers everywhere. What fun!

As a surprise and tribute to the Scotts, Brian Freed rewrote a tune for the 200th show. Roger McNeil rewrote one for the 201st show as a salute to the Federation leaders. Both were terrific!

Show #201 focused on the leaders in square dancing, especially the Square Dance Federation of Minnesota. Viewers were treated to photos from recent conventions as well as introductions to all of those now volunteering in leadership roles.
